Dr. Caitlin Vincent is a Lecturer in Creative Industries at the University of Melbourne where she researches the future of work in the arts.  Key areas of interest include opera, performance and technology, cultural labour and employment, and equity and diversity.  Dr. Vincent has co-authored several high-impact industry reports, including The status of women in the Canadian arts and cultural industries: Research review 2010-2018, and published across digital performance, opera, scenography, gender studies, cultural employment, and public diplomacy.

Dr. Vincent's forthcoming monograph, Digital Scenography in Opera in the Twenty-First Century, represents the first large-scale study of the use of digital scenography in opera and the impacts to production conventions both on and off the stage.  In addition to exploring dramaturgical trends, the monograph discusses the labour dynamics of opera production and the particular disruptions posed by digital technology on creative hierarchies and production design processes.  Other active research projects include a longitudinal analysis of women's representation in key creative roles in opera production in the United States and Australia and an evaluation of digital innovations being implemented by performing arts organisations due to COVID-19.

Dr. Vincent is an Affiliate Member of the Centre for People, Organisation and Work at RMIT University, a member of the Victorian Opera Peer Review Panel, and a member of OPERA America's Women's Opera Network.
